first_imgTHERE was a massive turn-out tonight for the 20th running of the Ballyare 10k. More than 350 people took part in either the 10k race – or the 5k fun walk.Run from Carr’s of the Diamond and taking in one of the toughest 10k routes in Co Donegal, hundreds of local people turned out to cheer on the runners and the walkers.Local legend Patrick Hegarty, a multiple Irish champion, is race director these days (and of course still a runner.)His astonishing record for the course at just over 30 minutes still stands after tonight’s event, which was won by Derry man Declan Reid who led from the front but couldn’t break Patrick’s record. Congratulations to all those who took part and a special mention to Carr’s of the Diamond where once again tea, coffee, sandwiches and enough cakes and buns to feed an army were laid on for participant and spectator alike. We will have a video of the walkers – and all the results a bit later on. DONEGALDAILY TV VIDEO: LOCAL LEGEND’S RECORD STILL STANDS AFTER 20TH BALLYARE 10K was last modified: August 24th, 2012 by BrendaShare this:Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window)Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window)Click to share on LinkedIn (Opens in new window)Click to share on Reddit (Opens in new window)Click to share on Pocket (Opens in new window)Click to share on Telegram (Opens in new window)Click to share on WhatsApp (Opens in new window)Click to share on Skype (Opens in new window)Click to print (Opens in new window) Tags:DONEGALDAILY TV VIDEO: LOCAL LEGEND’S RECORD STILL STANDS AFTER 20TH BALLYARE 10Klast_img read more

first_imgJose Mourinho has called for Manchester United’s transfer chiefs to up their game in the final days of the market, claiming the Red Devils will face a ‘difficult season’ if they do not make more signings.Premier League champions Man City – who finished 19 points ahead of United last season – have added Riyad Mahrez to their ranks and hope to add an additional holding midfielder, while Liverpool’s signings of Fabinho, Naby Keita, Xherdan Shaqiri and Alisson have added huge amount of depth to a side that reached the Champions League final. For Mourinho’s part, Brazilian midfielder Fred has come in alongside Portuguese youngster Diogo Dalot, while Lee Grant arrived to take up a position as the Old Trafford side’s third-choice keeper.  Article continues below Editors’ Picks Man Utd ready to spend big on Sancho and Haaland in January Who is Marcus Thuram? Zlatan wasn’t even the best player in LA! Still, United’s inability to sign a new centre-back – Leicester City’s Harry Maguire and Tottenham’s Toby Alderweireld seemingly topping the wishlist after a move for Yerry Mina failed – has left the Portuguese boss worried about the season ahead.Speaking to MUTV, Mourinho said: “My CEO [Ed Woodward] has known what I want for quite a long time. He knows what I want.“I know that he tries his best for me. I still have a few days to wait to see what is going to happen.”When asked if he was indeed unhappy with the squad at his disposal the manager did not issue a denial, though he could not help having a dig at fierce rivals Liverpool’s transfer activity.“The other clubs that compete with us, they are really strong, or they already have fantastic teams and squads like Chelsea, Tottenham, Manchester City… or they are investing massively, like, for example, Liverpool, who are buying everything and everybody.“So if we don’t make our team better it will be a difficult season for us.”Manchester United’s Premier League campaign kicks off against Leicester City on August 10 at Old Trafford.last_img read more

first_imgChennai Super Kings off-spinner Harbhajan Singh on Monday revealed how Shane Watson batted through the pain barrier during the IPL 2019 final against Mumbai Indians in Hyderabad.According to Harbhajan, the Chennai Super Kings opener received six stitches on his left leg after Watson dived to save his wicket during his knock.Harbhajan posted a picture on his Insta story of Watson’s bloodied left leg from the final.”Can you guys see the blood on his knee.. He got 6 stitches after the game..Got injured while diving but continue to bat without telling anyone,” Harbhajan wrote on his Insta story and shared a picture as well. Harbhajan Singh revealed Shane Watson’s injury on his Insta story on Monday (Harbhajan Singh Photo)Watson almost pulled off the 150-run chase against Mumbai Indians on Sunday night as he smashed 80 off 59 balls for Chennai and batted till the penultimate ball of the match. But once he was run out, Chennai failed to scrape past the finish line and ended up falling short by 1 run.Watson fought valiantly for the Super Kings but couldn’t take his team over the line as Lasith Malinga bowled a sensational final over and defended 8 runs off it.Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians were chasing their 4th IPL title but MI came on top after they held their nerves in a nail-biting title clash.Harbhajan said he still could not come to terms with the fact that CSK could not chase down 150 on a good pitch and rued the loss of regular wickets after a good opening stand between Faf du Plessis and Shane Watson.advertisement”From the fans’ point of view, it was kind of a paisa vasool match but for us it was heartbreaking. Getting MI out for 149, chasing 150 in Hyderabad on that pitch, I thought we had the match,” Harbhajan told India Today. “We had a good start upfront but we lost wickets. I still feel why this happened to us. It was our game. But we have to accept the fact that MI are winners but it was our game,” he said.MS Dhoni’s run out created a stir and Harbhajan Singh said Chennai Super Kings would have liked to see the Dhoni decision go their way.”We would have liked MS Dhoni’s decision to go in our way. If you see, the angles…from one end it looked out, from one end he looked to have made it. It was tough decision to make. A lot of times it’s been said that the decision should be given in batsman’s favour. In Dhoni’s case, it wasn’t given. I think it’s one of the key points where the game drifted away from us.”Apart from that, I didn’t think we built enough partnerships. Watson almost pulled a miracle for us. But it wasn’t enough. Even after MS Dhoni got out, we came so close.. Shane Watson brought us really close,” he said. Also Read | Mumbai Indians’ victory parade brings city to a halt as fans celebrate IPL 2019 winAlso Read | IPL 2019 final was paisa vasool for fans but CSK players heartbroken: Harbhajan SinghAlso Read | Harbhajan Singh on MS Dhoni run out in IPL 2019 final: It was a tough decision to makelast_img read more
