first_imgNewcastle have made their seventh summer signing after capturing Shakhtar Donetsk striker Facundo Ferreyra on a season-long loan.Boss Alan Pardew admitted earlier this week a deal for the 23-year-old was close and now the Argentine forward has completed his move, which includes an option to buy at the end of the campaign.Ferreya was one of six Shakhtar players who didn’t travel back to Ukraine following a friendly against Lyon in France due to fears regarding the political unrest in the eastern European country. The striker confessed he did not want to go back to Shakhtar and has now sealed a switch to St James’ Park.Ferreyra told the club’s official website: “I am very pleased to sign for Newcastle United. I like the Premier League and when I knew that Newcastle were interested in me, it was a very easy decision to make.“I spoke to my friend Fabricio Coloccini, and when he told me about the club, I didn’t need to think twice.”Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew added: “Facundo is someone we know on a number of levels, including his friendship with Fabricio (Coloccini), and we think he could be a big success here at Newcastle.“This is a player who has played at the top level and is highly-regarded in Argentina. He has tremendous potential and hopefully he can realise that here at Newcastle United.” 1 Newcastle striker Facundo Ferreyra last_img read more
